Abstract: The average heat release rate (AHRR) of some kinds of wood were measured using cone calorimeter under different heat flux intensities in this paper. The different heat release characteristics of these wood samples were analyzed theoretically. The temperature field of samples at the ignition time was also calculated. The complex structure, the chemical composition of wood (interior factors) and the external heat flux (exterior factor) are the main factors, which affect the heat release of wood. Both types of factors combine,to give the heat release rate of wood distinct characteristics.
